The answer to Who We Are at Texas Dive Center, Inc is, we are a SSI Diamond Instructor Training Center that is recognized by the VA as a school for vetran's education benefits.. We are committed to working to save our oceans and the life therein. We train the best divers and work with them to become the best Instructors. We are not a diploma mill - you won't find any abbreviated training here. We believe there are no limitations or barriers to diving and we can train and certify most anyone to enjoy the sport within their specific limits. Focusing on areas that other training centers may leave divers lacking, we ensure each diver is ready to dive the world safely and ready to reach their next level of diving. Our Director of Training and owner, is a Platinum Pro 5000 Diver and Elite Instructor Trainer with over 6100 life time logged dives.
John started diving in Maine with a YMCA diver certification card in 1973. Inaddition to being a Instructor Trainer for Scuba Schools International (SSI) he is also a PADI Master Instructor ands SDI/TDI/ERDI Instructor. Having worked in law enforcement for many years he is also certified as a Underwater Criminal Investigator and Public Safety Diver instructor. He is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel (Field Artillery) and Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps (1965-71) with a 80% disabled veteran rating, which explains his passion for teaching the disabled to scuba dive

Our dive center is dedicated to taking the best care of your dive equipment and offers a full range of equipment services by our expert technicians (John holds a Master Technician Certificate from Scuba Pro). At Texas Dive Center we offer MARES, SCUBA PRO, TUSA, Atomic, Bare, Hollis, Oceanic, Stahlsac, Suunto, Zeagle, Waterproof, Henderson, Ocean Technology Systems (OTS) and other quality brands of equipment. Our dive shop does your scuba tank annual inspections and 5 yr hydro-testing "in-house." No other dive shop in the region does it all like Texas Dive Center. We service ScubaPro, Mares, TUSA , Oceanic and OTS regulators in-house. Your other gear we will send off for you to a quality service center we've used for over 12 years that guarantees their work - just takes a little longer.

RIGHT OF REFUSAL
Please note that we reserve the right to refuse to take someone diving or to stop a dive in progress if we deem there could be a danger to anyone’s safety.
Examples of such concerns for the safety of all divers are:
- who is clearly unfit to dive, exhibits breathlessness or is beyond the ability to manage them if in medical distress
- who is unable to manage gear or is out of breath when performing basic functions
- who is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other stimulants
- who is medically unfit to dive or becomes unfit to dive after or before a dive session that may jeopardize the client’s health and safety or another divers
- who has a physical infirmity due to advanced age
- who exhibits behavior such as aggression, recklessness, not following briefings or refusing instructions from the dive professional or the boat captain
- who has inadequate certification, experience levels or apparent competence for the dives you will be doing
- whose in-water skills show a lack of ability to undertake a specific dive activity
- who has difficulty following the safety requirements
- who has a disability that precludes your ability to safely manage them or that you cannot reasonably accommodate
- who lacks knowledge of the equipment, especially on a demanding dive
- who has dive equipment that is clearly compromised or damaged
