Death of Child
John Miller Feb 14, 2026
In August of last year a 12 year old child died while doing her open water training dives at Scuba Ranch in Terrill, TX. Her NAUI Course Director, Instructors and Dive Master are all being sued in this preventable death which was inveestigated by the Texas Rangers resulting in her instructor that day being arrested and charged with felony child endangerment and released on $150,000 bond pending trail. This 77 lb little girl had 8 or more weights making her seriously over weighted. She only had 3 hours of pool training from a NAUI Course Director. So many factors that were preventable led to her death. Read the law suit below if you are a dive professional having a "duty of care" for the students you are teaching. Follow your agency standards as your insurance will not back you when you fail to follow them.
