Saturday Morning Workshops
John Miller Mar 10, 2026
These workshops are open to all levels of divers and even non-divers, with no in-water portions, that offer valuable opportunity for divers to connect and learn more on various topics in a informal setting. The workshops at Texas Dive Center, Inc. will offer more insight into the sport, allowing divers to build both knowledge and confidence in a supportive environment before taking on more advance certifications or preparing for their next diving adventure.
Most workshops will last between 1.5-2 hours most Saturday's (we might be out diving ourselves some weekends) starting April 11th on the topic of Delayed Surface Marker Buoys (DSMB) and running until we run out of things to talk about. To plan your weekends we will be posting the topic being discussed on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/txdivecenter so that you can decide whether to attend or not. We will also post it on our website at https://texasdivecenterinc.com/blog/news. The first one will be April 14th at 10am and will discuss the importance of a DSMB, how to select, set up, and deploy them.
Topics may run from simple diver maintenance tricks, basic gear cleanup, underwater photo/video images, using that dive computer, basic knot tying skills for divers, better buoyancy, dive mask features and choices and how to reduce fogging, how to get more down time on that bottle of air, the SSI digital app and log book, and much more. Miss a Saturday that has a topic you'd wish you were able to attend? No problem as we will be repeating the ones with the most turnout. Most topics focus on practical skills and topics relevant to divers of all experience levels but we welcome input on anything we wish to learn more about and can suggest future topics by emailing us with your request.
The best part of these workshops is that they are FREE and the coffee pot will be on, just bring your favorite coffee pod for the machine. Bottled water will also be available. The training center will open an hour early on these Saturday mornings and the workshop will start at 10 am sharp and be completed no later than 11:30 a.m. but you are welcome to hang around afterwards and socialize with others.
There is no need to register, just show up. Below are the forthcoming topics of discussion. Check back often as we will be updating the topics of future workshops here.
