What Does Course Consist Of/Cost? Be sure to compare “apples-to-apples.”

We are your full-service diving professionals – we focus on areas that abbreviated training from other training centers leave divers lacking. Some of the best divers and Instructors in the region have learned to dive with us, some even went on to run their own training centers. Most important is that we don’t require you to purchase or rent equipment such as wetsuits, surface marker buoy's, bags and logbook binders that are not required for your course by the agency you are earning your certification from like other dive shops in the area and their pricing before making a final commitment and ending up paying far more.  We urge you to compare shops and their TOTAL PROGRAM COSTS before putting any money down. Get a detailed list of what is included and what they want you to purchase or rent for your training – ours are written in this document. We will turn you into a confident, well-trained, and safe diver with no hidden costs. 

Our Total Program of Academics & Water Skill Training:

            Our Open Water Diver Course is just $500 and we provide you up to 6 months dive insurance FREE while training. Who else does that? Purchase a entry level Total Dive System from us and your course is FREE!. We will even offer you 6 months interest free financing.

Yes, others may charge less but what else do they want you to buy for the course – find out before making the commitment.

The Open Water Diver Certification Course with TEXAS DIVE CENTER is just $300.00 to start with your digital course and your pool sessions. We will also include the Computer Diver Specialty Course when you purchase a dive computer for your training from our store ($299 for a ScubaPro Aladin A1). The required open water training dives can be completed on your vacation (we issue a referral and assist in coordinating it with your vacation dive shop - you pay their fee for the required dives and certification). If you contiue your training with us you will pay the balance due for the required open water training sessions when you are ready to finalize your training. That is a total training cost of just $500 for the Open Water Diver certification if you own your own mask, snorkel, fins, boots and dive computer that are acceptable for your training. Otherwise you can purchase them in our store and get take your 10% off credit.

Open Water Divers are trained and certified to:

• Dive to a maximum depth of 60 feet (take the Deep Specialty Course and reach the recreational dive limit of 130 feet).
• Obtain air fills, rent or purchase scuba equipment and participate in other diving activities.
• Continue your dive training and complete more advanced diver courses and certifications such as Nitrox, Science of Diving and Rescue specialty courses to go deeper or longer.

The Fun Part

The Open Water Diver certification opens the door on the underwater world for anyone who's thought that a course would be too difficult. Upgrade to Advance Diver whenever you are ready. Your certification card never expires and is accepted worldwide.

What You Learn

Many of our dive Instructors have over 1,000 logged dives of experience so you are being taught by the very best. One lady we taught to scuba and become an instructor is now a SSI Entended Range International Training Director for SSI and owns her own dive training center (we teach the best to dive). All the basics of scuba diving through knowledge development utilizing state-of-the-art digital material at your own pace and schedule; a set of scuba skills in the pool that you'll master and use again during open water training dives; and finally an appreciation for the underwater world that will keep you coming back for more bottom time every chance you get! During the course you'll cover material and practice skills related to topics such as:

• Buoyancy skills including comfortable ascents and descents, and breathing underwater.
• Staying warm underwater, streamlining your swimming skills and buddy diving techniques.
• Diving environments and aquatic life you're likely to encounter.
• Preventing common problems underwater.

The Scuba Gear You Use

Most importantly - with the exception of a dive computer, mask, snorkel, fins and boots - we do not make you purchase stuff not required by the training agencies as some other shops do. You'll use all the basic scuba gear required but you will need to invest in your own dive computer, mask, snorkel, fins and fin boots since these personal items are a lot more fun to use when they fit properly and you won't have to pack a lot of extra dive gear or rent this stuff on your vacation dive trips. A entry level dive computer is considered life support gear and many dive shops won't let you dive without one on your vacation. Our students get a discount off these items or anything in our store, during their training. We will supply everything else that you need, with the exception of the above items already mentioned. Ask us how we can help you purchase your own Total Diving System with your course and take 6 or 12 months to pay for it INTEREST FREE! We will also give you your course for free, add FIVE ecology specialty courses and the Computer Diver Specialty Course - all for FREE when purchasing your Total Dive System from us;. That way you can train in your own life support gear and have it for your first dive vacation. No one else in our market offers such a deal.

The Learning Materials You Need:

We offer the SSI Digital Training Courses as they let you learn on your own schedule and not be stuck in a classroom for several nights on our orother student's schedule. Your training materials are state of the art and provide a comprehensive overview of scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each concept you'll read a description and watch a video demonstration, and take on-line quizes to test your comprehension of the material. Once completed, your final exam will be there for you to complete. Once you're a certified diver, use the course materials and dedicated skill videos as a reference guide for future diving adventures. Folks, children as young as 10 can become divers and have the same requirements as adults so learning to scuba dive is not difficult.

Prerequisites

To take this course, you must be:

• 15 years old (or 10 years old for Junior Scuba Diver certification).
• Be medically qualified for recreational scuba diving
• Complete all of the required legal paperwork "on-line" so you have all the time you need to read and go over it.

This course is scheduled monthly and the pool work is conducted when the class has at least wo students ready to start their in-water training and weather permits. The 4-5 open water traiing dives are scheduled at least once a month with 4 students ready. We also offer the program with just two divers as a semi-private class for $750 each.
