We often hear of divers being left adrift at sea by their dive boat operators. Or incidents like our competitors faced in Roatan this summer when good dive weather was not in the forecast. One such incident occurred in 2024 in Texas. Here is the law suit. Folks, we never go on a live-a-board without taking our Garmin InReach satellite tracker. That little $300 device will get you located by the Coast Guard within hours. Have a reef hook or other device that in strong currents you and your buddy can use to hook onto the down line. Carry a large SMB and a snorkel to use and keep from inhailing sea water as you breath. The SMB will help keep you and your buddy from drifting apart. Hit your safety stop with at least 800 PSI so you have sufficient air at the surface should this happen. Know how to orally inflate your BCD. Keep your mask on your face or around your neck.
