Specialty instructor courses provide valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of the course.
You can choose from any of the standard specialty courses that along with distinctive specialty courses your Instructor Trainer may offer. Each Specialty Instructor Course costs $275. You can get a special package of 5 for just $900 which is both the required digital course material and your instructor semiinar.

What You Learn
You have three ways to become a Specialty Instructor:
- With a Instructor Trainer in a Specialty Instructor Seminar Class
- Co-Teach with a current Specialty Instructor
- Write your own outlineBy verification of your dive experience and training.
- Specialty Instructor Training course attendance is highly recommended. These courses provide valuable hands-on training, technique demonstrations, course marketing information, current Standards information and, when applicable, instructor-level open water training.

The Scuba Gear You Use
You will need to equip yourself with all the basic scuba gear, some scuba accessories and depending on which specialties you teach, you’ll need other specialty diving gear such as dive lights or underwater photography equipment.
Learning Materials You Need
SSI Specialty Instructor material includes the specialty instructor digital material the SSI standardized specialties you choose.. Once registered, the digital specialty manuals will be updated anytime they are changed.

You must be a:
- Current Assistant Instructor or higher
- Dive Masters can become Ecology Specialty Instructors
