He is a Master Scuba Instructor with several dive training agencies and a SSI Instructor Trainer as well as for Disabled Divers International (DDI). He started Texas Dive Center in August of 2012 to provide the best scuba services, training and adventures in the region. He first started diving in Maine in 1973 with a YMCA certification to do search and recovery as well as ice diving, along with gathering scallops for the family freezer. He teaches Public Safety diving and is certified as a Underwater Criminal Investigator.

John is also a Scuba Pro Expert Equipment Technician as well as being manufacturer trained for TUSA, Mares, Oceanic, Cressi and Ocean Technology Systems (OTS) full face masks service and repairs. John is a DOT cylinder re-tester for hydro static testing of cylinders.

As a SSI Platinum 1000 Instructor he was inducted into the Platinum Pro 5000 Diver Foundation in 2018 and with over 6000 life time logged dives you won't find many in the region that compare. Wreck diving being one of his favorite forms of diving, it is no surprise that he holds the SSI Advance Wreck Diver Specialty Instructor rating. There simply is no better person to learn from in the region when it comes to scuba diving.
